Ingredients:
3 cups heavy cream [or 2 cups heavy cream and 1 cup whole milk]
3/4 cup granulated sugar
pinch of salt
1 vanilla bean
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups pitted and coarsely chopped fresh cherries
Instructions:
1. In a medium sauce pan, pour 1 cup of cream and add the sugar and salt. Cut the bean length-wise and scrape the vanilla bean seeds into the pan, then throw in the pod. Stir over medium heat, until the sugar dissolves.
2. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract and remaining cream [or cream and milk].
3. Refrigerate and chill the mixture in a covered plastic container.
4. Remove the vanilla pod before churning. Follow the instructions from your ice cream maker.
