…especially when the photos are old!

I found an awesome batch of photos of people eating yesterday during my regular browsing of the Library of Congress’ Prints and Photographs Online Catalog.

Shot during the post-depression and WWII eras, these photos are part of the Office of War Information’s collection that aimed to promote patriotism and women in the workforce.

I’ve always been drawn to historical photos — especially so when they involve people. Forgive me for being idealistic and a historical-romantic, but a time when people could simply be documented by photograph (rather than hamming it up for their social network profile) is refreshing.

P.S. I’d love to track these people down and follow up on their lives.
